Wholesale Windmill Palm Tree - Trachycarpus fortunei - Chusan Palm

The Windmill Palm Tree (Trachycarpus fortunei, Chusan Palm) is the most cold hardy palm tree there is. Native to mountainous areas of Asia, it can withstand subfreezing temperatures, thriving in USDA hardiness zones 7-11 but some report survival of the Windmill Palm in zones 5b and 6 also!

Northerners can now enjoy the tropical look of a palm tree just like those of us down south thanks to the super cold hardy palm called the Windmill Palm!

The Windmill Palm Tree is a relatively slow growing palm tree, growing only about 6-12" per year but eventually reaching heights of 20-40' even when grown in the north.   Not only is the Windmill Palm a cold hardy palm, but it is also a disease hardy palm tree making it very easy to grow.  The Windmill Palm Tree does well when grown in containers as well and can take full sun to partial shade.   An added bonus of this easy to grow and cold hardy palm tree is that it has no thorns making it a safe palm tree for kids and pets! The Windmill Palm does well when grown indoors also.

When looking for a nice centerpiece palm tree the Windmill Palm has a pretty appearance with fan shaped leaves and a stunning silver-green or silver-blue color.
