Palm Sunday 2013

I remember as a child I just loved going to church on Palm Sunday.  I was so excited to receive my one, long yellow palm strip, they were so pretty and had such a fresh, clean scent to them!  Living in Ohio I had never even seen a palm tree until I visited Florida once at 10 years old.  Never did I guess back then when I loved it so much that one day I'd be living in Florida and even selling and shipping these palm strips to Churches for Palm Sunday!

Palm Sunday is March 24, 2013!  Be prepared and visit my website:

A Book For The Cold Hardy Palm Lover

Betrock is a name well known to plant enthusiasts for their comprehensive guides to all kinds of plants and palm trees. Betrock's Cold Hardy Palms is an awesome book containing 169 colorful informative pages loaded with 286 color photographs extensively covering 82 palm species capable of growing in climates colder than USDA Hardiness Zone 10.

This book has a 5 star rating on Amazon and it's no surprise, I speak from personal experience I've personally worked at 2 tree farms over the last 5 years and both of them having Betrock's Cold Hardy Palms on hand for reference.

This book would make a great Christmas gift for the palm or plant enthusiast or anyone wanting a highly knowledgeable resource for cold hardy palms! Click here to order your copy of Betrock's Cold Hardy Palms

My website http://www.coldhardytrees.com is now under construction and will contain information, photos and pricing on many types of palm trees and foliage.

European Fan Palm - Chamaerops humilis

Thinking of a great Christmas gift for that special someone? How about putting a touch of the tropics into this holiday season by ordering them a cold hardy European Fan Palm. Palm lovers everywhere can enjoy this palm, outdoors in USDA hardiness zones 7b - 11 or indoors in a container outside of the ideal zones.

The European Fan Palm (Chamaerops humilis) has a few names including: Mediterranean Fan Palm, Dwarf Fan Palm, and Palmito. It's native to the Mediterranean region of Europe and is known and sought after due to it's extreme cold hardiness thriving even in temperatures as low as 5 degrees f. This is also a wind resistant and salt tolerant palm tree.

The European Fan Palm does well grown in a container indoors because it is an extremely slow grower reaching heights of only 10' when full grown and taking years to reach. The beautiful, lush, clumping palm has elegant silvery blue fronds and can attain widths of 5'. This palm tree requires moderate watering but does best in well drained soil and can take full sun to partial shade but is at it's best in full sun.

Maintenance on the lovely European Fan Palm is easy, simply apply a goodpalm fertilizer twice a year for optimal health.

Homeowners get your own European Fan Palm Tree shipped right to your front door just in time for the holidays!

Avid gardeners can even start out their own European Fan Palm by ordering European Fan Palm Seeds - Chamaerops humilis!

Ribbon Palm - Livistona decipiens - Ribbon Fan Palm

The Ribbon Palm (Livistona decipiens, Ribbon Fan Palm) native to the east coast of Queensland, Australia, is another cold hardy palm tree that can reach heights of 30-50', prefers moderate watering but can withstand some drought after it's well established. This palm will adapt to most types of soil except for wet, soggy areas. It does well in a variety of lighting from partly shade to highly sunny.

Although it is slightly less cold hardy than the Chinese Fan Palm (Livistona chinensis), doing well in USDA Hardiness Zones 9-11 it can withstand temperatures down to 20 degrees f and can be a great alternative to other cold hardy palm choices due to it's insect and disease resistance.

The Ribbon Palm can also be enjoyed by people in colder areas because it does well and is easy to grow in a container indoors.

Homeowners can have small/medium and Large Livistona Palms shipped to their door just in time for the holidays by clicking here.

Wholesale customers please email me directly at gotpalms@coldhardytrees.com for wholesale pricing on large quantities of the Ribbon Fan Palm or any other palms or foliage you are in need of.
